Ceylon Gardens OP-1 – Certified Organic
$5.50 – $90.00
This tea is grown in Morawaka (centre of Ceylon tea plantations) in the Matara District located in the southern area of Sri Lanka. The dry leaf is long and twisted, with a minimal amount of stems. The colour of the dry leaf ranges from very dark to a deep rusty shade. The liquor is a bright, copper colour and flavour is full,“brisk”. Strong enough to take a splash of milk and some sugar, but smooth enough to enjoy on its own. An excellent morning or mid-afternoon tea.
Description
The teas of Sri Lanka, the Paradise Island in the Indian Ocean, southwest of India, are still called after their colonial name, Ceylon. The temperate climate and cool mountainous regions are perfect growing conditions for tea, which accounts for why Sri Lanka produces 25% of the world’s production of tea. This island produces 600,000 tons of tea annually.
Ceylon teas are divided into high, medium and low grown. The high grown are of the very best quality and when coupled with specific times of year they can be outstanding.
